I have finished 2 real weeks of planning and shopping....3 if you count the 1st trial runs, just trying to use coupons to feel confident. I have read blogs and coupon policies and all kinds of info just to feel confident; however, I must admit that I am still a little nervous, will they take my coupon, did I use it the right way, will I look like a dork? So I'm still not done with the research part of exactly how to use your coupons to get the most for your money.
One thing that I have realized is that you have to have LOTS of coupons. You need to have an ever growing coupon pile, because you will never get to take advantage of the SUPER deals if you only have a few to choose from. Thus, I have been shameless in my gathering. I have asked soooo many people. I have had my kids ask their friends' parents. (I have even thought about snatching some from neighbors yards when their papers are piling up...not my best quality showing :( But my little coupon collection is growing. I am so excited that people have given me their coupons, I have bought very little. So it's been a little under a month and my coupon pile is growing nicely.
Don't give up, it will take a little bit of planning and gathering, but you'll get there.
Couponing...is it worth it?
I will track my experiences with couponing. I might not be extreme, but I'm putting forth some extreme time

So I got the Sunday ads and gathered a few coupons. I read some blogs and computed a "few" scenarios and I went to store "W".

Transaction 1

$2.56

Total = 5.98
rr from 1st transaction 4.5
differance 1.48.....$4 rr
Reality
They were out of the "W" brand tampons and gatorade. My coupons for the shaving cream in 1 were not exactly what I needed so instead of $4.50 in coup
ons I had $2.10. The chicken broth was low so I only spent $2 there instead of $3. The candy in the last transaction was strategic because you can't use more coupons than items purchased, I planned for 2 and only needed 1.
So in reality I got all this.......for......
Transaction 1
total = $5.06 +tax....rr$3
Transaction 2
total= $.49 +tax...rr$7
Transaction 3
total = $2.49+ tax...4 rr
So all in all I paid$9.29 (w/tax) and have $11 rr for next week.
July...Give it a Try
So I've heard the buzz about couponing. I've never seen the TV show, but I hear lots about it. So What is the deal? Can you really save THAT much $$$ or not? How extreme do you have to be to get the savings or find the deals? Is it something "normal" me can do? ;)
I'm gonna give it a try. I am committing to putting the time in and learning how it's done; seeing if I can coupon with the best of them....and if it's worth it. If you send me your coupons THANKS. If you see a cool deal and want to share GREAT. My plan now is to learn CVS and WALGREENS. I've heard that those two are the best places to save money, but are the hardest to learn. We'll see
